Full Description
This slide presentation outlines a study on bromide removal using MIEX resin and ceramic membrane filtration. Background information is outlined and includes:Nationwide disinfection byproduct (DBP) Occurrence Study;Brominated DBPs; and,Tailored Collaboration Study (AwwaRF and Palmdale Water Department, California).Materials and methods are outlined and include:MIEX Ion Exchange Coupled with Low-Pressure CeramicMembrane Filtration;MIEX Resin and Ceramic Membrane Characteristics; and, Experimental Matrix. Results include and outline ofFinished Water Quality, Percent Removal of Bromide and Dissolved Organic Carbon(DOC), and Hydraulic Performance. Conclusions indicate that:total trihalomethane (TTHM) water quality goals can be achieved, withgood success at meeting 80 g/L regulatory limit(13/16 conditions) andmoderate success at meeting 60 g/L project goal(7/16 conditions);short-term membrane fouling dependant uponrecirculation loop resin concentration, flux, andcrossflow velocities; and, exchange kinetics sufficiently rapid for removal ofbromide and TOC, under conditions tested. Includes tables, figures. Product Details
