This slide presentation outlines information on controlling contamination in drinking water treatment chemicals. Topics outlined include: Status of Regulatory Adoption; Standard 60;overview of Standard 60 TechnicalRequirements;preventing Contamination duringProduction, Transport, and Storage ofTreatment Chemicals; and,Storage Example: Sodium Hypochlorite(controlling perchlorate formation). Conclusions of the study included:ensure the chemical manufacturer as well as thedistribution point are certified to NSF 60;limit contamination from transport by requiringdedicated containers or inspection of wash-outtickets; and,limit contamination during storage by followingmfrs instructions and/or AWWA Specifications.
