Full Description

This slide presentation outlines the significance, treatment and management of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins along withozonation of cyanobacterial toxins, specifically:effects of ozone dose, pH, natural organic matter (NOM);toxicity; and, byproducts. Conclusions were that: ozonation was very effective to detoxifynaturally occurring microcystins in water;reaction pH was an important factor formicrocystin degradation by ozonation;the presence of NOM lower the removalefficiency of microcystin; toxicity of microcystin solution increased atinsufficient ozone doses;a number of ozonation byproducts wereidentified;degradation pathway was proposed; and, destruction of Adda moiety coincided withdetoxification of microcystins. Includes figures.
