Dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) have become popular for delivering ventilation air in warm-humid climates. They provide a practical means for decoupling latent and sensible loads and can be set up to control dew-point temperature. This article discusses how using a grains/pound (g/kg) reduction calculation to determine the proper dew-point temperature simplifies design and operating criteria for DOAS.
