Cost of lighting controls technologies, both first cost and installation cost, can be a barrier to adoption of daylighting systems integrated with building controls. Over the entire U.S. building sector, lighting accounts for more than 14% of the total primary energy consumed. This article discusses one effective approach to reduce the use of electric lighting, daylight harvesting.
