Psychrometrics is the science of moist air properties and processes, which is used to illustrate and analyze air-conditioning cycles. It translates the knowledge of heating or cooling loads (which are in kW or tons) into volume flow rates (in m3/s or cfm) for the air to be circulated into the duct system. The approximate composition of dry air by volume is: 79.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.03% carbon dioxide and 0.01% other gases.
