International efforts to minimize ozone damage and global warming by decreasing the use/loss of certain refrigerants to the atmosphere mean that fewer options are available to large-scale refrigerant users. Therefore, the industry has been forced to seek other alternatives. An exciting alternative turns out to be one of the oldest refrigerants--carbon dioxide (CO2).
