Full Description

The surface tension of 60% aqueous lithium bromide (LiBr) solution in the presence of 2-ethyl-hexanol (2EH) in air was measured using a drop volume method. The main feature in the experimental setup is that air mixes with 2EH vapor upstream before flowing over the sample drops in the test chamber. The measurement results show that the effect of 2EH from the vapor side is significant and 2EHconcentration in air is a dominant variable compared with the effect of 2EH from the liquid side. It was found that the 2EH vapor concentration must be closely controlled in order to obtain repeatable and accurate data.
