Presents the basis for design of diffusers used to stratify, in an optimal manner, thermal storage tanks using a liquid as the sensible storage medium. States the basis in terms of dimensionless parameters. Identifies the basic assumptions underlying the design criteria and discusses the selection of design data. Describes a method of using the design criteria to compute the principal design parameters of diffusers, along with an example design.
