The subject is the philosophy and content of an environmental technology course to teach HVAC fundamentals to students of building construction. In autumn 1989 a survey was made to obtain the reaction and comments of mechanical contractors to a description of an HVAC course in a construction curriculum. Three years later, a comprehensive evaluation of the course was carried out. Selected questions from the course evaluation over this period were examined for students' comments, and telephone interviews were held with ex-students of the program to assess the relevance of the HVAC course in their jobs.
