Many businesses and industries are located in buildings that are suboptimal for data centers. Therefore, the challenges associated with the design and construction of a data center in a mixed use building will become more prevalent and complex. The size and location of data centers within buildings can vary greatly and so can the associated design and operation challenges. One of the big variations is whether a data center is in a dedicated building or a part of a building. This column explores the challenge of a large variety of data center dimensions.
