This paper discusses how the response-coefficient method can be used to accurately determine the transient variation of the surface heat flow in a solid sphere in response to two timedependent inputs (surface temperature and uniform internal-energy generation rate). The method is economical, especially when the solution is needed over long periods of time. Generalized non-dimensional plots are presented to determine the response coefficients needed to obtain the variation of the surface heat flow with time.
