Good energy audits followed by solid implementation result in substantial energy savings. Bad energy audits, no matter how good the implementation, result in lower-than-expected savings or no energy savings. This article attempts to explain why some audits deliver savings under 10%, and others deliver savings of 40% or more. This article is based on reviews of more than 300 energy audits.
