Labs and vivarium facilities typically consume large amounts of energy and have high carbon emissions. Many organizations are facing challenges concerning reducing their carbon footprint and their use of energy. An expansive study completed in January 2009 gathered ample evidence of the significant contribution that the demand-based variation of lab and vivarium air change rates make towards safely meeting these goals.
