Defines gas cooling equipment as alternative energy, non-electric cooling products, which includes absorption chillers, engine-driven chillers and packaged desiccant units among others. Goes on to describe the basic operation of an absorption chiller to provide an understanding of the relatively simple tasks required to keep the machine operating at maximum efficiency for its design life and beyond. Examines maintenance and the absorption cycle, notes the critical nature of purging and discusses solution chemistry.
