Full Description
This paper examines the life-safety problems presented by open-balcony atriums in hotels. Current code requirements are discussed. A general approach is developed to mitigate the fire and smoke dangers and a specific design incorporating the air-conditioning system and supplemental fan systems is examined in detail.
